2025 Press Release

For Immediate Release

Join the Joy at the June 7 Elgin Pride Parade

Elgin, IL: On June 7, 2025, Elgin Pride and the City of Elgin will present the third annual Elgin Pride Parade and Festival. The celebration kicks off at 11 AM with a family-friendly parade showcasing Elgin-area businesses, services, and artists. Immediately after the parade, a free festival in Festival Park will feature local vendors offering merchandise and services, LGBTQ+ musicians and performance artists, and a wide selection of food and non-alcoholic beverages.

“We’re delighted to have so many new groups marching and vending with us this year,” says Heather Ross, Board Member at Large, serving her second year as parade director. Also returning this year is festival director and Board Treasurer Jon Kobel.

In October 2024, 501(c)(3) Elgin Pride doubled the size of its board, installing Gema Atta as Secretary, Jeffrey Wright as Program and Development Director, and Sam Raue Hebert as Executive Director, adding board members at large, and moving Mark Rayos to Vice Chair.

“It’s been a year of growth for Elgin Pride,” says Board Chair Travis Hooker. “We’ve introduced membership and donation options, started the Elgin Pride Menu initiative with local restaurants and cafes, and grown our partner events program. We’re excited to carry that spirit of community and growth into this year’s parade and festival.”

More than 4,000 people attended the 2023 event, and in 2024 more than 1,500 celebrated despite pouring rain. Vendor and parade slots are still available for the June 7, 2025, event. Register by May 12 at ElginPride.org/event-details/elgin-pride-parade-festival-2025.
