About the event

Community Listening Session: Faith, Support, and Resilience in the LGBTQIA+ Community
The welcoming and affirming faith leaders of Elgin invite you to a community-focused Listening Session. In these uncertain times, our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and compassionate space where members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their families can share their experiences, voice their concerns, and help us understand how we can best stand with you.
We will focus our discussion around two vital areas:
Navigating External Pressures and Concerns
We want to hear directly from you about how shifting political climates, threats from the federal government, and the rise of Christian Nationalism are impacting your lives, your families, and your sense of safety. What are your primary concerns right now, and what challenges are you facing?
Defining the Role of Affirming Faith Leaders
As faith leaders dedicated to serving and celebrating the Queer community, we want to know how we can best support you through these challenging times. What are your most immediate needs, and how can our communities provide tangible comfort, advocacy, and care?
Whether you are looking for a place to speak your truth, find solidarity, or simply listen, your presence is deeply valued. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient network of care and action.
